The Problem with Today’s DEI Debate
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) started as a movement to make workplaces more fair, welcoming, and representative. But somewhere along the way, the conversation splintered.
Today, DEI has become a political battleground. People argue for or against it, often without agreeing on what it actually means. The term has increasingly been politicized, leading to debates that often overshadow its core intent.
What was meant to bring people together is now doing the opposite.
So where do we go from here? We must shift to human-centered cultures. Companies must move away from checklist compliance to culture-building strategies that promote inclusion through relationships and mutual understanding.
